

Gordon Jenkins
American composer and musician
Gordon Jenkins was an American arranger, composer, and pianist influential in popular music in the 1940s and 1950s. Jenkins worked for NBC in Hollywood from 1938 to 1944. Later, as managing director for Decca, he had hits for the label in the late 1940s and 1950s. He spotted and backed The Weavers folk group, and released the albums 12 Songs from Call Me Madam (with Selections from Panama Hattie) with Ethel Merman and Dick Haymes, and Complete Manhattan Tower. He also released Gordon Jenkins Presents Marshall Royal with Marshall Royal and appeared in the documentary Frank Sinatra: A Man and His Music. Jenkins passed away in 1984.
