American composer and lyricist
Irving Berlin was an American composer and lyricist. He wrote the bestselling record of all time, White Christmas, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1943. Berlin released albums titled Annie Get Your Gun featuring Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton. He also released Easter Parade with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire, and Holiday Inn. Popular songs include There's No Business Like Show Business and After You Get What You Want (You Don't Want It). Berlin commenced his career as a busker at 13, progressed to a singing waiter, published his first song as a teenager in 1907, and passed away in 1989. He appeared in the documentary Brother, Can You Spare a Dime? and the film This Is the Army.
