Cuban-American jazz trumpeter, pianist, and composer
Arturo Sandoval is a Cuban-American musician. He gained global recognition through his performances with the Cuban jazz ensemble Irakere. After defecting to the U.S., Sandoval started a new phase of his career, leading various bands and collaborating with numerous pop artists. He went solo in the early '80s and released albums such as My Foolish Heart and Ultimate Duets. Sandoval also released Jam Miami: A Celebration Of Latin Jazz (Live) with Chick Corea and Pete Escovedo, and has worked with Juan Luis Guerra, Quincy Jones, and John Williams on popular songs including La Bilirrubina, Peter Gunn, and La Virgen de la Macarena.
