

Helen Traubel
American singer (1899–1972)
Helen Traubel was an American singer (1899-1972). She made her debut as a soloist with the St. Louis Symphony in 1925 and performed with the Metropolitan Opera for several years before retiring from most stage work in 1953. Traubel released albums including Lebendige Vergangenheit - Helen Traubel, Lebendige Vergangenheit - Helen Traubel (Vol.2), and the original Broadway cast recording of Pipe Dream with Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. She performed popular songs such as Sweet Thursday, The Bum’s Opera with the Pipe Dream Ensemble, and Götterdämmerung: Schlußszene with Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra. Traubel also appeared in the films Deep in My Heart and The Ladies Man.
