Larry Charles is an American comedian, screenwriter, director, actor, and producer. He co-created and produced the sitcom Seinfeld, for which he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Charles has directed the series Curb Your Enthusiasm and New Girl, and produced the series Mad About You. He has also appeared in the documentary Religulous. In the late 1970s, he attempted to sell gags to comics in Los Angeles, with Larry David as a regular buyer. After dropping out of Rutgers University in the early 1970s, he toured the country as part of a stand-up team.
