American jazz musician and composer (1927–1996)
Gerry Mulligan was an American jazz musician and composer (1927-1996). He was a key figure in the Birth of the Cool nonet led by Miles Davis. Mulligan released the albums Getz Meets Mulligan In Hi-Fi with Stan Getz and Mulligan Meets Monk with Thelonious Monk.
He formed a quartet in 1952 with Chet Baker, and released singles as The Gerry Mulligan Quartet Featuring Chet Baker. Mulligan collaborated with Ben Webster on Who's Got Rhythm? and Chelsea Bridge, and with Stan Getz on the popular song That Old Feeling.
He appeared in the concert film Jazz on a Summer's Day, as well as the films Bells Are Ringing and The Rat Race.
