Long John Baldry was a British musician (1941-2005). He fronted Bluesology, the band that gave Reg Dwight (later known as Elton John) his first prestigious gig. Baldry helped form Steampacket in the mid-'60s with Rod Stewart, Julie Driscoll, and Brian Auger. After Cyril Davies' death in early 1964, Baldry joined the Cyril Davies R&B All Stars, renaming it Long John Baldry and His Hoochie Coochie Men.
