Henry Gray

African-American blues piano player and singer (1925-2020)

Henry Gray was an African-American blues piano player and singer. After serving in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II, Gray relocated to Chicago and began performing in the city's blues clubs in 1946. Gray was the primary piano player in  Howlin' Wolf's band from 1956 to 1968. His albums include Louisiana Swamp Blues, Vol. 2 with Rudi Richard, Lucky Man, and Shake a Hand. Gray played with Pinetop Perkins and Big Joe Duskin on the song Tommy Dorsey's Boogie Woogie. His other popular songs include I Declare That Ain't Right and I'm Talkin' About You. He appeared in the documentary I am the Blues.
