American blues pianist

Pinetop Perkins was an American blues pianist. He accompanied Big Joe Williams, Robert Nighthawk, and Sonny Boy Williamson. Perkins joined Muddy Waters’ band in Chicago in 1969, replacing Otis Spann on piano. He released albums including Joined At the Hip: Pinetop Perkins & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith with Willie Lee Smith, Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live In Dallas with Robert Lockwood, Jr. and David Honeyboy Edwards, and The Memphis Barbecue Sessions with Big Jack Johnson and Kim Wilson. His most popular songs include Pinetop’s Boogie Woogie, Eyesight to the Blind with Willie Lee Smith, and Walkin’ Down the Highway.
