John Coltrane
American jazz saxophonist (1926–1967)
John Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in jazz music. He released albums Blue Train, Giant Steps, My Favorite Things, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman with Johnny Hartman, and Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane with Thelonious Monk.
In 1961, Coltrane formed his quartet comprising McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones. He later transitioned his recording label affiliation from Atlantic to Impulse! Records. He released A Love Supreme in 1964.
Coltrane's most popular songs include In a Sentimental Mood with Duke Ellington, My Shining Hour, and Naima. He was married to pianist and harpist Alice Coltrane. He died in 1967.
