

Charles Mingus
Charles Mingus was an American jazz bassist, composer, and bandleader. He is considered one of the all-time great jazz musicians. He released numerous albums between 1949 and 1977. After settling in New York, Mingus worked with Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, and other prominent jazz players. He released The Quintet: Jazz At Massey Hall in 1953 with Charlie Parker, Max Roach, Bud Powell, and Dizzy Gillespie. He released Pithecanthropus Erectus in 1956 and Mingus Ah Um in 1959. In 1960, Mingus released Blues & Roots. He then released The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady in 1963 and Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus in 1964. His most popular songs include Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, Nostalgia In Times Square, and Moanin'. Mingus died in 1979.
