Andre Ekyan
French conductor and clarinetist (1907–1972)
Andre Ekyan was a French conductor and clarinetist (1907-1972). He became well known in France in the early 1930s and made many recordings. Ekyan played in London with Jack Hylton and worked with Django Reinhardt in the late 1930s, with songs compiled on the album Dr. Jazz Collection - Hot Club Parade. He is known for his popular songs Pennies from Heaven and Tiger Rag, and also for his work with Coleman Hawkins and Benny Carter. Ekyan appeared in the 1970 film Le Cercle Rouge with Alain Delon.
