Donna Jean Godchaux
American singer
Donna Jean Godchaux is an American singer. She began her career as a session singer in Muscle Shoals, later moving to Memphis, Nashville, and then the West Coast. Godchaux was a member of the Grateful Dead, serving as a vocalist from 1972 to 1979. She also sang backup for the Jerry Garcia Band during that same period. In 1975, she released the album Keith & Donna with her husband Keith Godchaux, featuring Jerry Garcia on guitar. She has also collaborated with artists including New Riders of the Purple Sage and Dead & Company. In 1994, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Grateful Dead.
