Elisabeth Welch was an American singer and actress (1904-2003). Welch performed on Broadway in New York and at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, before moving to London, where she performed in many theatrical shows throughout the 1930s and for several decades following. Some of her most popular songs include Stormy Weather and Love for Sale. She also appeared in feature films including 1936's Song of Freedom, 1945's Dead of Night, and 1979's The Tempest, her final movie role.
