David Grisman

American mandolinist

David Grisman is an American mandolinist, composer, and record label owner. He coined the term "dawg music" to describe his unique musical style. Grisman released the album Shady Grove, which featured collaborations with Jerry Garcia. He also contributed to the Grateful Dead's Americana phase through tracks with Garcia like Friend of the Devil and Rosalee McFall. Grisman appears in the documentaries Grateful Dawg and John Monteleone: The Chisels Are Calling.
