Eddie Duran

American jazz guitarist (1925–2019)

Eddie Duran was an American jazz guitarist (1925-2019). Duran began performing professionally in his hometown of San Francisco as a teenager and joined a trio with his brothers Carlos Duran and Manny Duran. He soon began playing with musicians visiting San Francisco, including Stan Getz, Charlie Parker, George Shearing, Red Norvo, and Earl Hines. In the 1950s, he joined his friend Vince Guaraldi in a trio with bassist Dean Riley and also played in Cal Tjader's Mambo Quintet.


Duran led his own trio from 1960-1967, played in Benny Goodman's orchestras from 1976 until 1981, and made recordings with Tania Maria from 1980-1982. In 1997, Duran released the album From Here to the Moon with his wife Mad Duran
