Charles Thompson is an American musician. As Black Francis, he is the lead singer of Pixies whose albums Surfer Rosa and Doolittle laid the groundwork for the '90s alternative explosion. Thompson embarked on a solo career as Frank Black after the band broke up in the early 1990s. Black released a self-titled album in 1993, followed by 1994’s Teenager of the Year. His most popular songs include Los Angeles, Headache, and I Heard Ramona Sing, which featured in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. He has appeared in the documentaries loudQUIETloud: A Film About the Pixies and A Song for You: The Austin City Limits Story.
