David Toop is a British musician and author. A former member of the post-punk group The Flying Lizards, Toop has been an integral member of the British experimental-music scene since the 1970s and has collaborated with artists like Brian Eno, Thurston Moore, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. A longstanding contributing editor and columnist for the British music magazine The Wire and professor emeritus at the London College of Communication, he has written multiple books including Rap Attack: African Jive to New York Hip Hop, Exotica: Fabricated Soundscapes in a Real World, and Haunted Weather: Music, Silence, and Memory.
