Allison Russell is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. She formed the gospel-folk duo Birds of Chicago with JT Nero in 2012, releasing the album Love In Wartime and collaborating with Nero on various projects. Russell made her name in the 2000s as a member of the roots group Po' Girl and is also a member of the all-female banjo-focused group Our Native Daughters. As a solo artist, she released the albums Outside Child and The Returner. Russell has worked with Hozier on Wildflower and Barley. Her most popular songs include Nightflyer and Persephone.
