Carl Perkins

American jazz pianist (1928–1958)

Carl Perkins was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He wrote Blue Suede Shoes, a 1956 hit that remains a rock 'n' roll staple. Perkins blended R&B, country, and blues and was at the vanguard of the rockabilly movement. He released many albums including The Complete Million Dollar Quartet with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis. His other popular songs include Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby, Matchbox, and Honey Don't. Perkins appeared in the film Jamboree. He died in 1998.
