Rufus Jones
American drummer (1936–1990)
Rufus Jones was an American drummer (1936-1990). He was associated with Lionel Hampton in 1954 and was a member of Maynard Ferguson’s Orchestra from 1959-1963. Jones led his own quintet from 1963-1964. He later worked with Count Basie from 1964-1966 and Duke Ellington from 1966-1970. He released the album Five On Eight. He also collaborated with Bill Berry and Johnny Hodges.
