

Anita O'Day
American jazz singer (1919–2006)
Anita O'Day was an American jazz singer (1919-2006) who first appeared in big bands. After her solo debut in the early 1940s, she incorporated bop modernism into her vocals. O'Day recorded numerous vocal LPs for Verve during the ’50s and ’60s, including the album Anita Sings the Most in 1957. Her most popular songs include Old Devil Moon, Let Me Off Uptown, and Taking a Chance on Love. O'Day also appeared in the documentary film Jazz on a Summer's Day.
