Muriel Smith
American opera singer (1923-1985)
Muriel Smith was an American opera singer. She appeared in revues at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End, London in 1949, and in the film Moulin Rouge in 1952. Smith made her operatic debut in Carmen at the Royal Opera House in 1956, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio. Smith released the albums Broadway - Carmen Jones with Luther Saxon and the Broadway Cast. She also released South Pacific in 1958 with Mitzi Gaynor and Richard Rodgers. Smith worked with The Ken Darby Singers on her most popular song, Bali Ha'i, and also performed Happy Talk and Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me.
