

Mort Shuman
American singer, pianist and songwriter
Mort Shuman was an American singer, pianist, and songwriter. He signed on as a writer at the Brill Building with songwriting partner Doc Pomus, writing Save the Last Dance for Me. Shuman released the album Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris with Shawn Elliott and Elly Stone. He moved to France in 1966, began translating the work of Jacques Brel, and released the albums My Death and À nous les petites Anglaises!. Shuman also appeared in the films Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living In Paris and The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane with Jodie Foster and Martin Sheen. His most popular songs include Le lac majeur, Sorrow, and Papa tango Charly. Shuman died in 1991.
