Johnny Desmond
American pop singer (1919–1985)
Johnny Desmond was an American pop singer (1919-1985). He joined Gene Krupa's band as a lead singer in 1941 and later worked with both Glenn Miller's Air Force Band and the Army Air Forces Overseas Orchestra. Desmond released the albums Blue Smoke, Johnny Desmond Swings, and Once Upon a Time, and worked with the Army Air Forces Overseas Orchestra on Autumn Serenade. Among his most popular songs are The Last Time I Saw Paris and Long Ago and Far Away, the latter of which he also worked with Glenn Miller on. He appeared in the films China Doll and Hawk Of The Caribbean.
