

Leonid Kogan
Soviet violinist (1924–1982)
Leonid Kogan was a Soviet violinist (1924-1982). He made his debut at 17 and performed in many Soviet venues while still a student. Kogan shared first prize at the 1947 Prague World Youth Festival and won first prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 1951. He released recordings with musicians including the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra, Emil Gilels, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Andrei Mytnik.
