Portia Nelson was an American actress and musician. She wrote the book There's a Hole in My Sidewalk. Nelson was part of the studio cast recordings for On Your Toes and The Boys from Syracuse alongside Jack Cassidy and Richard Rodgers. Among her most popular songs are Maria, Overture / Preludium (Dixit Dominus) / Morning Hymn / Alleluia (Medley), and Processional And Maria (The Wedding). Nelson appeared in films such as Can't Stop the Music, Doctor Dolittle, and The Sound of Music.
