Zakir Hussain was an Indian tabla player, music producer, composer, and film actor. He co-founded the band Shakti in the 1970s with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar. Hussain was awarded the title Padma Shri, becoming one of the youngest percussionist to receive this honor. He's released albums including Tabla Duet with his father Alla Rakha, The Flow Of Time with Shiv Kumar Sharma, and Making Music. Hussain received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album for Global Drum Project. Hussain passed away in 2024.
