Kayhan Kalhor

Iranian musician

Kayhan Kalhor is an Iranian musician. He released his solo debut album Scattering Stars Like Dust and formed Ghazal with sitar master and vocalist Shujaat Khan. Kalhor also appeared on the Shahram Nazeri and Dastan Ensemble recording of Persian devotional music Through Eternity and performed his own composition Gallop of a Thousand Horses for string quartet, kamancheh, and tombak on the Kronos Quartet's Caravan album. He released the albums It's Still Autumn with the Rembrandt Frerichs Trio, Night Silence Desert with Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, and The Sky Is the Same Colour Everywhere with Toumani Diabate. Kalhor has popular songs including Ichichila, Rain (Lyrics By Ali Mo'allem), and Silence of the Night, which he has performed in various collaborations. He appears in the documentary The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble.
