Carmine Coppola

American composer (1910-1991)

Carmine Coppola was an American composer. He is the father of film director Francis Ford Coppola. He studied flute and composition at Juilliard and worked under Arturo Toscanini and his NBC Symphony Orchestra. Coppola composed scores such as The Black Stallion (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture), The Godfather Suite, and The Outsiders. He received an Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score for The Godfather: Part II. Coppola's most popular songs include Tarantella (From The Godfather), Mazurka (From The Godfather) composed with Nino Rota and Pietro Mascagni, and Sunrise.
