American R&B musician (1946–2006)
Billy Preston was an American R&B musician (1946-2006). An in-demand keyboardist, Preston served as a sideman to Ray Charles and Sam Cooke during the 1960s and recorded with The Beatles, Little Richard, and The Rolling Stones. As a solo artist, he released the albums I Wrote a Simple Song, The Kids & Me, and It’s My Pleasure. His most popular songs included Nothing from Nothing, That's the Way God Planned It, and Will It Go Round In Circles. He appeared in the 1970 documentary Let It Be and the 1984 film Blame It On the Night.
