Rick James was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He formed the Mynah Birds, where he performed with Neil Young and Bruce Palmer. James released solo albums including Come Get It!, Street Songs, and Throwin' Down. His most popular songs include Fire and Desire with Teena Marie, Cold Blooded, and You and I. James' song Super Freak was sampled for MC Hammer's megahit U Can't Touch This. He also appeared in the film Life.
