Kid Rock
American singer, rapper, songwriter, and musician
Kid Rock is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and musician. Born Robert James Ritchie in a small town outside of Detroit, he came up in the Detroit hip-hop scene—and would occasionally wind up in rap battles with Eminem. He released his debut album Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast in 1990, but it was 1998's Devil Without a Cause that made him a household name. The multi-platinum album spawned singles Bawitdaba and Cowboy, and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2000.
More hits would follow, including his 2002 duet with Sheryl Crow, Picture, and 2008's Sweet Home Alabama-sampling country-rock smash All Summer Long. In addition to his musical endeavors, Kid Rock has appeared in the films Joe Dirt with David Spade, Biker Boyz, and the animated feature Osmosis Jones.
