Paul Robeson was an American singer, actor, and political activist. He is known for his rendition of Ol' Man River from Show Boat and his most popular songs include Rockin' Chair, Balm In Gilead, and Ol' Man River. Robeson released albums such as Ballad For Americans, Live At Carnegie Hall, 1958, and On My Journey: Paul Robeson's Independent Recordings. He was established as a stage and screen actor in the 1920s and had film appearances in the 1930s including The Emperor Jones, King Solomon's Mines, and Song of Freedom.
