Burt Bacharach was an American composer, songwriter, record producer, and pianist. He was one of the most influential figures of 20th-century popular music. He co-authored numerous pop classics with lyricist Hal David, primarily for Dionne Warwick, such as I'll Never Fall In Love Again, Alfie, and Walk On By. He also wrote the No. 1 hits (They Long to Be) Close to You and That's What Friends Are For. Bacharach received Academy Awards for Best Original Score (Not a Musical) for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Best Song – Original for the Picture for Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head, and Best Original Song for Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do). Bacharach passed away in 1983.
