

Ethel Waters
American blues, jazz and gospel vocalist and actress
Ethel Waters was an American blues, jazz, and gospel vocalist and actress. She began her career in vaudeville and starred in her own Broadway show An Evening with Ethel Waters in the 1950s. Waters also appeared in the television series The Beulah Show from 1950 to 1953. She also starred in the film Cabin in the Sky featuring Duke Ellington and Lena Horne and appeared in the film Cairo.
Some of her most notable recordings include His Eye Is on the Sparrow, Am I Blue?, Thief In the Night, and Stormy Weather, which she performed with The Dorsey Brothers Orchestra. Waters died in 1977.
