A world-renowned producer and songwriter with platinum plaques galore, benny blanco has firmly solidified his status in pop. Yet even as he’s helped craft megahits for the likes of Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, and Rihanna, to say nothing of his releases as a recording artist in his own right, there’s always been something extra special about his work with Latin music artists. Whether aligned with J Balvin and Tainy on “I Can’t Get Enough” or, more recently, with música mexicana star Neton Vega on 2025’s genre-defying DELIRIUM, his formidable talents seem to shine just a bit brighter on such collaborations. That particular phenomenon proves all the more evident on Hermoso, a relatively short if robust outing that links him with notable Spanish-language artists from across the globe. Rapper Bb trickz playfully revels in her youthfully debauched lifestyle on “Joven y Salvaje,” while the aforementioned Vega drunkenly confesses his obsessions on the provocative yet somehow wistful “Un Poco Perdido.” Building upon the foundation of 2025’s I Said I Love You First, his joint album with superstar (and wife) Selena Gomez, the duo returns with no less than Becky G by their side for “Te Olvido (La La),” a vexingly lovelorn cumbia hybrid that blends decisively timed bursts of brass into its captivating mix. Yet perhaps what truly separates blanco’s project from other producers’ ventures into Latin cultural spaces is how concertedly synergistic these tracks come off. There’s not so much as a whiff of cash-grab cynicism to be found amid the swirling dream pop of “Memoria De Paz” with The Marías or the breezy Ovy On the Drums co-production “Ay Bendito” with Mora. Our Favorite Track: A gratifying coda with reggaetonero Myke Towers, “DEGENERE” calls back to Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner” as it proceeds to celebrate independent women in the club.
