Adelaide Hall
American-born UK-based jazz singer and entertainer
Adelaide Hall was an American-born UK-based jazz singer and entertainer. She performed wordless vocals on Duke Ellington recordings and was associated with songs such as Creole Love Call and The Blues I Love to Sing with Duke Ellington and His Orchestra. She also recorded That Old Feeling with Fats Waller and His Rhythm. Hall released the albums Hall of Fame, Adelaide Hall Live at Riverside Studios, and I Touched a Star, among many other recordings. After settling in the UK, she appeared in successful musicals in the late 1930s and the film The Thief of Bagdad in 1940. Hall passed away in 1993.
