

Alan Bergman
Alan Bergman is an American lyricist and songwriter. He wrote the Academy Award-winning theme song to The Way We Were with Marilyn Bergman and Marvin Hamlisch, which peaked at number 1 on the Billboard pop chart. Bergman received Academy Awards for Best Original Song for The Way We Were and Best Original Song Score for Yentl. He also received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie, or Special for Sybil. Bergman's most popular songs include The Proposal with Arthur Askey and Richard Murdoch and It Might Be You with Diane Schuur and Dave Grusin. He had his first big-screen credit for work on the film The Right Approach in 1961 and collaborated with Michel Legrand on the music for the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair. Bergman appears in the documentary If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast.
