American actor, dancer, and singer
Bill Robinson was an American tap dancer, actor, and singer (1878-1949). He was one of the best known black entertainers of his era. Robinson's innovative tap incorporated complex rhythms and precise footwork. Robinson was famous for his dancing with Shirley Temple in films throughout the 1930s, and the starring in the 1943 musical Stormy Weather. He appeared in films including The Little Colonel, The Littlest Rebel, and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.
