High school student Meiko Morita lives in Akita, located in a more rural northern part of Japan. When she gets selected as a special transfer student to Amamiya Girls’ Academy, a prestigious girls' school in Tokyo, she's excited for the opportunity to experience city life. But when she arrives, she's surprised to learn that Amamiya is no ordinary school: the school runs a manga cafe called Hedgehog and Meiko will need to work there part-time in order to stay enrolled in school. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Meiko begins integrating herself into life at Amamiya and Hedgehog, living in a tiny one-tatami room. As she grows closer to her fellow student-residents, she learns more about the world beyond her hometown – and despite its quirks, she grows quite fond of her new life. This anime was based on the manga of the same name by Kumako Hisama.
