Kenneth Branagh is a British actor and filmmaker. Branagh has appeared in films such as A Haunting in Venice, Death on the Nile, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Murder on the Orient Express, and Tenet. He directed Cinderella and the film Belfast, which he also wrote. For Belfast, Branagh won awards including the Academy Award for Best Writing, Original Screenplay in 2022 and the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay in 2021. Branagh has also directed and starred in film adaptations of William Shakespeare plays such as Much Ado About Nothing, Henry V, Othello, Hamlet, and As You Like It. He directed and starred in the Hercule Poirot film series, and starred in the television series Wallander. He received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Conspiracy. Branagh succeeded Richard Attenborough as President of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 2015 to 2024.
