Julius Erving is an American former basketball player. He is known globally as Dr. J for revolutionizing basketball, particularly the forward position. His unique playing style combined outside shooting, driving to the basket, and acrobatic dunks, which had a profound impact on the sport. Erving's talent was evident during his college years at the University of Massachusetts, where he averaged 26.9 points and 19.5 rebounds per game in his junior year. He led the Virginia Squires to the ABA playoffs in his rookie season and later played for the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers. Erving has appeared in documentaries including Fathers of the Sport, Vince Carter: Legacy, and the film The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh.
