American actor, comedian, and filmmaker

Mel Brooks is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. He wrote and directed in classic comedy films The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein. Brooks received the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Producers and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Mad About You. He has also won Tony awards for the Broadway adaptation of The Producers, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.


He appeared in and directed the films Dracula: Dead and Loving It, History of the World: Part I, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Spaceballs.
Brooks served with the United States Army during World War II. Brooks also directed Life Stinks, High Anxiety, and Silent Movie
