Hope has been accused by the townspeople of being the devil's consort. The town priest orders Hope to be burned at the stake. As she is writhing in pain, he accepts Lucifer's offer to a life in Hell instead of suffering a painful death. Hope then rejects Lucifer's offer and is transformed in to the powerful warrior called Lady Death.
