American actor, singer and orchestra leader (1902-1984)
Smith Ballew was an American actor, singer, and orchestra leader. His film credits include Roll Along, Cowboy, Hawaiian Buckaroo, Panamint's Bad Man, Rawhide where he appeared with Lou Gehrig, and Gaucho Serenade. Ballew starred in The Man Who Walked Alone in 1945 and later in The Red Badge of Courage in 1951 alongside Audie Murphy. As a musician, Ballew released the singles Happy Feet, My Sweeter Than Sweet, and From Now On.
