Jack Webb was an American actor, producer, director, and author. He created and starred as Sgt. Joe Friday in the pioneering police procedural Dragnet, later adapted into a film. Webb founded his own production company, Mark VII Limited, in 1951. He appeared in films such as He Walked by Night, Sunset Boulevard, and The D.I. and produced the television series Adam-12 and Emergency!.
