American singer, songwriter, and record producer

Luther Vandross was an American R&B singer (1951-2005). After working as a backing vocalist, he had a solo breakthrough in the early 80s. Vandross released his debut album Never Too Much in 1981 and later released Forever, For Always, For Love in 1982, Give Me The Reason in 1986, and This Is Christmas in 1995. Prior to his solo success, Vandross provided session vocals and arrangements for acts like David Bowie and Bette Midler and was a member of the American band Chic. He was also the lead singer of the band Change. He had popular songs including If Only for One Night, If This World Were Mine with Cheryl Lynn, and Bad Boy / Having a Party. Vandross also appeared in films such as Luther Vandross: Live at Wembley and Luther Vandross: Always and Forever: An Evening of Songs at the Royal Albert Hall.
