Igor Levit is a Russian-German musician and human-rights activist. Levit released Beethoven: The Late Piano Sonatas in 2013 and later released Beethoven: Complete Piano Sonatas. He has also released Tristan and Brahms: Piano Concertos & Solo Piano, Opp. 116-119, the latter with the Wiener Philharmoniker and Christian Thielemann. Levit is known for his performances of specific works by Bach, Brahms, and Shostakovich, such as Bach’s 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87 and Brahms’ 3 Intermezzi, Op. 117.
