Hugh Martin
American musical theater and film composer (1914-2011)
Hugh Martin was an American musical theater and film composer. He scored the 1944 film musical Meet Me in St. Louis and later composed new songs for its 1960 St. Louis Municipal Opera stage adaptation and its 1989 Broadway run. Martin teamed with Ralph Blane to write the Broadway smash Best Foot Forward and the songs Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Trolley Song, Ev'ry Time, The Boy Next Door, and An Occasional Man. Martin released Martin & Blane Sing Martin and Blane with Blane and appeared in the film Where's My Man Tonight? He died in 2011.
